Dinner with Caldera Sunset View: Oia, Santorini, Greece

Updated: Dec 8, 2018

April 9, 2016: Our 4th day in Santorini is an afternoon walk at the famous town of Oia, and dinner at Kastro's Restaurant - one of the only two restaurants at Oia that has the sunset view. Very lucky to have the reservation at this restaurant booked ahead of time for us to witness this most famous sunset in Europe! However, it was overcast that day that we did not see the glaring sunset. Nonetheless, a lot of sunset spectators are around and crowding the area, while we drink, dine and eat our banana split.

Our dinner at Kastro Restaurant in Oia, Santorini surprisingly did not break the budget. To consider that the time we had our dinner reservation is during the sunset. The restaurant has fixed menu for two people as low as 86 to 106 Euros - tax already included. If you are thinking of going to Oia, Santorini and would like to watch the sunset and have dinner, make sure to check the time of sunset on the day that you would like to have your dinner. Call Kastro's Restaurant to make the reservations ahead of time. There are not many seats available in this restaurant and you can end up not getting a reservation.

Greece is one of the most inexpensive places for travel and dining in Europe. Their falling economy has taken a toll when the euro zone sovereign debt crisis that ravaged its economy. However, they still have peak and low seasons for tourism, where prices are dictated by these seasons. Mid-April to mid-June for Spring as well as September to mid-October for Fall is the best time to visit Greece where prices are not so inflated and weather is not so hot compared to when it's summer time.
