I really do not have a long travel bucket list, unlike my husband Jake. To me, riding a camel, and a white elephant (their locations do not matter) are the only two things in my list. Jake on the other hand is an enthusiast on places that have ancient history and for the most that have somewhat connections to hypercivilizations and primitive extraterrestrial hypothesis. Therefore, in the course of planning for places to visit this year, I planned to cross out one in my bucket list and one on Jake’s by going to Egypt!
Egypt has many things to offer for a traveler who wants to experience diversity and culture. After a long flight from John Wayne Orange County Airport in Southern California (SNA) to Paris, a long lay over and over six hours delayed connecting flight from Paris (CDG) to Cairo, Egypt (CAI), we finally reached the land of the pyramids Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 5:00 am. Since this trip is special and we are going to meet our traveling buddies from Las Vegas, Nevada, we arranged for a travel tour agency to facilitate our hotel accommodation and personal tour guide during our short stay in Egypt (i.e., four days). Due to our long delayed flight, we were only left with two hours to check-in our hotel (Le Meridien Pyramids, Hotel & SPA) and get ready for our tour that starts at 8:00 am.
Lacking sleep, but filled with excitement, we were picked-up by our experienced private tour guide, Ahmed who accompanied us to Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinus, as well as the famous Sphinx and Valley Temple facing the great statue. We then had lunch served in a local restaurant. Then, next on the agenda is the tour to Saqqara area to visit the Saqqara Complex and first Pyramid ever built (Djoser Pyramid). After Saqqara, we drove to Memphis - the old kingdom's capital and famous Necropolis.
Would love to go there next!
